The Great Divide Mix Pack

Normally Sioux and I don't keep a lot of bottled beer in the fridge. It's generally whatever is left over from the last event. We have beer in the kegerator, and some 22oz bombers of specialty beers that we want to try. (We actually go through the beer in the kegerator slower than we do beer in bottles... we're too lazy to make sure we get a full pour.)

This weekend was different. We were going to the first ever "Jay Lane Summer Games"--a cook out with bracketed tournaments for the three B's (badminton, bocce and bean bag toss) and as such we were going to need more portable beverage choices.

So off I went to Wolly Liquors to peruse the beer coolers. These guys are THE place for wine, and have a great selection of spirits. I normally go over to Atlas for beer, but they were closer. (they do get bonus points for carrying White Birch beers--I like to see stores taking care of a nanobrewery)

So I was kinda blah about the selection. They had all the usual suspects, but I wanted something new.

And I found it.

I don't know how long the Great Divide Brewing Company beers have been available in Massachusetts, but this is the first time I've seen them.

So one $20 twelve pack later, I was on my way to a cookout.

I can't give a full review of the beers (check back later . . . early fall maybe) but I'll say that the Titan IPA was a full kick to the tastebuds (almost a bit much) but that after the titan, the Belgica Belgian style IPA tasted balanced . . . which is weird, because it shouldn't

I'll need to get another mix pack in and sit down to give each beer it's own review, but if you see it and want something new, give it a try. They are quality beer that certainly stands out.
